Science and Consciousness 2023: Wyrd Time

  • Broughton Sanctuary (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Following the success of the first two events of Science and Consciousness in 2021 and 2022, it is happening again in 2023, this time with a focus on the wyrd nature of time. What are the conditions under which we experience time in a non-linear way? How can we explain those experiences? What is the relevance of wyrd time to making a positive difference in the world?

Hack the World course

Hack the World course

Hack the World introduces you to the basics of applying the scientific method and the Integral map to your own magic experiments. It includes both theory and practice. In the theoretical part, you will be introduced to Ken Wilber’s Integral map as a way to look at and interpret both magick and mystical experiences.

You will get a solid explanation of the do’s and don’ts of scientific exploration, referencing examples from the history of science and magick. These theories will also enable you to understand and calculate the basic statistics you need to be able to evaluate your own practical results in various experiments.

In the practice part, you can choose from a number of classical and more recent “paranormal” experiments. You will be guided in practicing them on your own, or together with your fellow participants. Although the magick experiments aim to influence information in a non-local (“paranormal”) way, we will be following a thorough scientific protocol as we conduct them.

By the end of the full Modern-day Magic: Hack the World program (3 Micro Courses) you will be able to:

  • Develop a well-informed pathway for your own magical development

  • Work with a community of fellow magic practitioners to deepen your understanding and practice

  • Draw from a collection of magic experiments and experiences to suit your purpose

  • Set up, run and evaluate a magic experiment using scientific protocols and statistics

  • Explain and assess magic experiences through an Integral lens

  • Select appropriate technology for a magic experiment, including Random Event/Number Generators

  • Describe the history, current practice and future potential of magic

The defining challenge that humanity faces is remembering our interconnectedness with each other and the rest of life on Earth. Over a period of 28 years Brenda Dunne and Bob Jahn carried out experiments at Princeton University to explore how we interact non-locally with the world around us – from picking up information to impacting otherwise random events with our intention. They proved beyond statistical doubt that we are indeed interconnected at the informational energetic level, and can interact outside of the standard parameters of time and space. Their findings radically disrupt the absolutism of the mainstream scientific paradigm and illustrate how the teachings of many of the wisdom traditions can now be validated through scientific research.

Broughton Sanctuary now hosts the equipment that was used for that research at Princeton and is making it available for visitors to experience first-hand how their heart and mind directly impact the world around them. Brenda Dunne will be joining this event to tell us the story of the research and give us a tour of the actual equipment used. Joining Brenda will be some of the world’s top scientists, academics and practitioners to share how their work backs up what they discovered at Princeton – that we are fundamentally connected with the world around us.

This conference will include talks and discussions with these leading authorities in the field, as well as experiential exercises using the latest technology and interaction with the beautiful natural surroundings at Broughton. Join us as we tell and experience the story of our interconnectedness, from new science to ancient wisdom – and together build the worldview and practices that will enable us all to thrive into the future.

This course qualifies for 4 credits for enrolled Ubiquity University Students.

The Universal Trinity (Merry Musings 6)

In many spiritual and religious traditions, a trinity of some sort plays an important role. During my research into Volution I discovered that all these trinities seemed to be pointing to the same underlying dynamic. This dynamic can be explained by the toroidal process of manifestation as described in Volution. It seems all the traditions were pointing to their process of creation through their trinity story. To put it another way, life learned to describe its very own process through the lenses and languages of diverse human cultures. This Merry Musing dives into the nature of the trinity and its relevance for our individual and collective journeys today.

The Pain and the Promise (Merry Musings 4)

The-Pain-and-the-Promise-8.png

When a tree wants to send its branches higher into the sky, it needs to send its roots deeper into the earth. When a person or society wants to move to the next level of development, we have to dig down into our past to release the energy held there by earlier traumas. Humanity’s current condition and deep desire to move towards a future that honours our interconnectedness is tied to a moment in our past where we split from an instinctive experience of being part of the Earth, and pushed away from that past without managing to re-integrate it into our identity – creating trauma and shadow. That is why we have been able to do what we have done to each other and the rest of life on Earth. It is also what is holding us back from accessing the next level of interconnectedness in the subtle realms. As Ken Wilber said in Up from Eden, “When the Great Mother is repressed, the Great Goddess is concealed”. This Merry Musing dives deep into this topic.

The Way of Wyrd - Merry Musing #2

It's strange how many of us Westerners are so familiar with ch'i and other Eastern energetic concepts, and yet so unfamiliar with our native history in this area. Wyrd was the Celtic, Anglo-saxon and Norse concept of the interconnected field of information and energy and has been deeply researched by Brian Bates. Tolkien drew a lot of inspiration from it for his writings.

The second Merry Musing will dive into the web of Wyrd - I can't wait!
